Wi-Fi access for guests

There are a number of options for providing visitors to U of T with access to the campus wireless network.

If visitors are coming from other Universities that participate in the eduroam program, they can log in to the ‘eduroam‘ wireless network with their institutional credentials. They will use their own username and password to authenticate. For further instructions, see: https://eduroam.org/about/connect-yourself/

For visitors from institutions that do not participate in eduroam, a U of T staff/faculty member can sponsor a 24-hr ‘eVA’ – eduroam visitor access account. To create one, you need a mobile phone. Visit https://eva.eis.utoronto.ca from a device connected to a U of T network. On the eVA website you will find a phone number and a unique passcode that is updated daily. From your mobile phone, text (SMS) the daily passcode to the specified phone number. You will then receive a return SMS message containing your temporary, unique username and password. Provide this username and password to your visitor, and ask them to connect to the ‘eduroam’ wireless network using those credentials. You will need to request new login credentials each day that your guest requires access to the eduroam network.

If there are a significant number of visitors for whom eudoroam is not an option, it is possible to request a conference access code that provides temporary eduroam access for larger groups. Contact the BIOTA group for assistance.
